At Pur-One Medispa we use the SkinPen Microneedling Device to provide a safe and effective treatment to improve the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles on the neck. Microneedling can also improve skin tone (hyperpigmentation) and texture (smoothes the skin and minimizes pore size).
How does it work?
SkinPen follows a 3-step process:
Inflammation
SkinPen’s microneedles pierce the skin (only through the epidermis and part of the dermis) which triggers your immune system and kicks in the wound-healing process.
2. Proliferation
The micro-wounds created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
3. Remodeling
During remodeling the wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are composed of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.
Pretreatment for Microneedling:
No Retinoids or exfoliating products for 5 days before your microneedling procedure
If hyperpigmentation is an issue, avoid sun exposure for approx. 1 week before procedure
Aftercare for Microneedling:
For the first 72 hrs post-procedure, avoiding sun exposure and strenuous exercise is important because sweating and excess blood flow can cause irritation and hinder results. Minimizing sun exposure for a full week after the procedure is even better to maximize the results of the procedure.
The client will take home the SkinFuse healing gel from the SkinPen microneedling kit. (The SkinFuse is the same product used to glide the device during procedure). SkinFuse works to help reseal the barrier of the skin and prevents trans-epidermal water loss over the next 24 hrs after the microneedling session.
Microneedling results are cumulative and build upon each treatment. A series of 3 is typically recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart to achieve maximum results! After a series of three, it is typical to take a break from microneedling, but continue with other facial services like facials or peels.
